Southern Housing Group's Annual Review and Financial Accounts for 2007/08 reports are now available in hard copy and online.
Some of Southern Housing Group's headline achievements include the completion of 800 new homes (exceeding the Housing Corporation's targets by more than a third), selling 562 homes (with 34% of these being sold to key workers) and some 1,294 properties being let to new residents during the year.
The headline financial results include an overall increase in the Group's surplus from the previous year (18.3 million compared to 14.7 million). In addition the Group's housing stock was valued at £1.251 million, an increase from £1.158 million the previous year, and the Group's turnover was £115.3 million in 2007/08 - up from £100 million in the previous year.
The Group made significant customer service improvements including the completion of its Integrated Management Project, which meant a more consistent and integrated service for leasehold and rental residents. In addition specialist officers were appointed to deal with issues surrounding rental arrears and anti-social behaviour.
The Group's internal services were bolstered so that they were fit to support the external improvements, this included upgrading the Group's IT systems and substantial staff training programmes throughout the year.
Feedback from residents and staff has been very positive as a result of the integration.
Tom Dacey, Southern Housing Group's Chief Executive, said the Annual Review and the Group Financial Accounts concentrate on all the people, both staff and residents, who help develop and manage our properties and build our communities in a rapidly changing environment.
"Our mission is to continue to play our part in the supply of affordable housing for rent and for sale, as long as market conditions permit, without damaging the long-term interests of the Group," said Mr Dacey.
