Pam Bhamra has been promoted to Southern Housing Group's Director of Housing and Resident Services following a rigorous external-recruitment process.

Pam is responsible for overseeing and directing the standard and quality of Southern Housing Group's services to residents.  Pam's job is a new position for Southern Housing Group and follows on from recent changes to the Group's operations, which will enhance the delivery of resident services.

Pam says that her new job enables her to focus on services that Southern Housing Group is already delivering to its 66,000 residents who rent or have shared-ownership properties.

"I'm passionate about working to make a difference for the residents and the communities that we serve. It is my responsibility to ensure that the services we provide are consistent across all of our regions and of the highest possible standard.   I want to make sure that what matters to our residents, matters to us," said Pam.

Pam is a social-housing specialist.  Since January 2005 she has been Southern Housing Group's Regional Director for the Thames Gateway region.  The region incorporates affordable housing and sheltered schemes between Tower Hamlets in East London, Riverside developments in Barking, Royal Arsenal Woolwich and housing on the Medway.  Southern Housing Group is actively recruiting a new Regional Director for the Thames Gateway Region.

Prior to joining Southern Housing Group she worked for nine years at Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association; six years as a Housing Services Director.
She began her career in 1988 as a Housing Officer in the East Midlands.  Pam is a Geography graduate from Loughborough University and has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Housing. -ends-

Notes for Editors

Southern Housing Group is one of southern England’s largest housing associations. Founded over 100 years ago, we own and manage 24,000 homes for more than 66,000 residents, employing more than 800 people and working with some 80 local authorities.

Our activities centre on four-key areas: the development of quality-affordable housing, housing and neighbourhood management, a range of rent and home ownership and social investment.

We believe that building communities is as important as building homes. So as well as developing and managing quality, affordable housing for rent and ownership, we invest considerable resources to provide an environment where people really want to live.

Southern Housing Group Limited is a Charitable Industrial and Provident Society No. 27412R. -ends-
