Southern Housing Group and Thames Valley Police have worked together to close down three properties linked to drug dealing in Reading.
We take antisocial behaviour seriously and closely work with the police and other local agencies to tackle it.
Our Home Management Team became aware of several properties at David Smith Court in Reading where drug use and dealing were taking place, impacting some of our other residents’ quality of life.
We worked hard to gather evidence to support the police’s investigation and actions. They took the occupants to court and got an order forcing them to leave the properties for at least three months. Throughout this process, we also ensured that we provided the necessary level of support to our most affected residents.
Emma Barnet-Warden, Area Services Manager for Southern Housing Group, said:
“This result should provide some immediate peace for the majority of our customers in the block.
“While the properties are closed, we will take ongoing tenancy action to support the closure orders and we’ll continue to work with the police to tackle this issue once and for all.
“If any of our residents experiences nuisance in their area, they should let us as soon as possible so we can give them the best possible support.”
