Introducing JBHA
James Butcher Housing Association (JBHA) was formed in 1964 by the Mayor of Reading at the time, James Butcher. His main aim was to provide sheltered accommodation for people of retirement age. Since then we have developed general needs housing as well and now provide homes for all age groups.
We employ over 120 people and own around 4,200 properties throughout the south of England. In 2006 we joined Southern Housing Group, one of the largest providers of affordable rented accommodation in southern England.
Our housing stock is managed from a main office in Theale. Our regional office in Portsmouth manages our property on the South coast. The Group's service centre is the single point of contact for all Southern Housing Group residents, including those of JBHA.
Our strategic direction is set by the Board of Southern Housing Group and at local level by the Board of JBHA, which is responsible for overseeing the work and direction of the organisation, working closely with the Executive Team below:
