The event, Outside Your Front Door: Taking Responsibility For Your Community, tackled the subjects of young people and anti-social behaviour, volunteering, greener communities and crime prevention.

The event gave all London residents the opportunity to have their say about the services that the Group offers. Workshops helped residents to learn about ways they can work with staff and other organisations, such as the local police, to improve the communities in which they live.

London Region Director, Duncan Howard, said:

“The event was a great way for staff and residents to get together, listen and learn from each other. Events like this shape the way we tailor our services and make residents aware of the invaluable contributions they can make to enhance their communities. Following feedback from last year’s event, we have increased opportunities for residents to become more involved in monitoring our performance and quality of services. A huge thank you to all of our residents, staff and partners who made the day such a success.”

Southern Housing Group resident Mrs Evelyn Clare said:

“It’s not very often that we sit down with our neighbours or have the chance to share our thoughts with other London residents and Group staff. I’m pleased to know that my opinion matters and can help to make positive changes in the community. County Hall was a lovely place to hold the event and I thoroughly enjoyed the day.”

Southern Housing Group is one of the largest housing associations in London and the South East, with over 6,000 homes in 14 boroughs across London.
