One of our Extra Care schemes, Byrnhill Grove, was the winner in the food and hydration category and highly commended in the innovations in activity category.
The home-cooked meals provided at Byrnhill Grove are very popular with residents and staff encourage residents to help create new and exciting menus.
The Care and Supporting Independence (CASI) Team were shortlisted for 'Best Care and Support Team'.
Naomi Somerville, Head of Sheltered and Care Services, said:
“Being shortlisted for this award really reinforces the hard work, dedication and commitment of the CASI Team to providing high quality services to some of our most vulnerable customers across the community. The team is highly valued and I am very pleased they are being recognised.”
The Care Quality Commission carried out an unannounced inspection of 22 Argyll Street, a residential care home for people with learning disabilities, and assessed the service as ’good’ across all five standards of care.
The inspection assessed whether the service provided at the scheme was safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led, and the scheme achieved a ‘good’ rating in all aspects.
The report found that:
"People were cared for with kindness and compassion. All interactions we observed between people and staff were positive and it was clear that staff knew people very well. Staff supported people to build and maintain relationships and protected their privacy at all times."
"People were involved in developing and reviewing the care and support they received. Staff were responsive when people's needs changed or when people requested changes to the way they were supported. The provider sought and acted on feedback from people."
