In 2015, our employees undertook more than 1,000 hours of training. Below are just some of the training and development opportunities available when you join us.
Management and leadership development
We have programmes available for ambitious junior managers, to maximise personal effectiveness, self-awareness and leadership skills. The programme helps employees develop themselves for current or potential management roles within the business, by building practical foundation management and supervisory skills. We are also developing leadership programmes across the business.
Internal and external courses
Employees can attend courses, conferences or e-learning sessions that relate to their role. This can include learning our in-house systems, updating Microsoft Office skills, time management, safeguarding adults and children and professional qualifications.
We encourage regular job shadowing. This involves working closely with another colleague from the same team, a different internal department or an external organisation to learn more about different job roles and responsibilities, and to gain valuable experience.
We support staff to study and gain qualifications relating to their role.
Literacy and numeracy
We are committed to improving skill levels across the business. We encourage colleagues to brush up their skills and gain qualifications in English and maths.
We consider all requests received from staff to take up opportunities for personal and career development including secondments.
