Our initial ideas include the redevelopment of Taverner House, replacing it with houses to continue the Carysfort Road. A new block can then face on to Clissold Crescent and Stoke Newington Church Street. A further block will face onto Stoke Newington Church Street.
Creating more homes
We propose to build 61 new high quality homes. The two blocks on Stoke Newington Church Street will have six and seven floors, and the block on Carysfort Road will have five. There are seven 3-floor terraced homes next to the existing houses on Craysfort Road.
We are committed to maximising the amount of genuinely affordable homes and we will provide a minimum of 50% affordable housing. This will be a mix of social rent, London affordable rent, and shared-ownership/ Hackney Living Rent. There will be a mix of one, two and three bedroom homes and four bedroom houses.
Enhancing the landscape
We propose to preserve as many of the wonderful silver birches, wild cherry and sycamore trees, and will plant new trees to maintain the natural green feel of the estate. We want natural landscaping that is low maintenance, but provides an open, tranquil environment for everyone.
Improving the estate
As well as creating new homes, we want to explore opportunities to make a difference to the whole estate by making sure that everyone benefits from our scheme. We want to bring the community together by improving the pedestrian routes, the play experiences and bring the small empty spaces back to life.
What’s happened so far?
We’re engaging and consulting with the local community and the local authority; we held two consultation events in July and November for the residents of Kennaway Estate to talk about our ideas for creating new homes and improving the open spaces on the estate.
