We plan to redevelop The Mannings to build new, high quality homes. We’re in the early stages of developing a proposal for a new building and have appointed PCKO Architects.
The Mannings was built in 1982 by Martlet Housing Association. Following an independent survey in 2015 it was found that the building has deteriorated due to age and weather. This is causing significant heat loss and concerns with damp and condensation. The mechanical and electrical services have also come to the end of their life expectancy.
We've been engaging with our customers to understand and recognise their housing needs, housing options and desires. We've created a frequently asked questions newsletter to provide information to our customers on The Mannings about their options and moving home.
We're created a moving home information sheet to help you prepare for your move. We’ve include a checklist of some of the people you’ll need to contact to let them know your new address.
For more information about registering with Adur and Worthing Council's Housing Register you can access their website here.
Shaping our proposal through meaningful consultation
Redeveloping the estate will allow us to build new, quality homes of different sizes to meet the needs of people living in Shoreham and the local area. The new homes will be accessible to people with mobility restrictions and will all have private outdoor space.
The new homes will all be affordable with a mix of social rent and shared ownership tenures. We want to help more people take their first steps to buy their own homes, and we believe that shared ownership offers a good opportunity for those on medium incomes to do so. We want to create diverse, mixed tenure communities for everyone to live.
We believe that a new development will bring value to the community and we want you to help shape our ideas and identify options which would work best within the local area. We want to fully understand and recognise better our customers' needs and concerns and create a proposal that is inclusive for everyone.
Join our consultation and have your say
We want everyone to be meaningfully involved in our consultation and it's important for us to listen and understand your thoughts, opinions and ideas to develop a scheme for everyone.
We're committed to providing new, high quality homes to meet our existing customers' needs and we'll offer them the right to return, as well as providing them with advice and support on their housing options.
We recognise that our customers want to remain in Shoreham and we fully understand and appreciate their local connections to the area. We’ve purchased a new development built by a private developer on 67 Brighton Road, which will be offered to our customers. We're committed to enhancing our housing stock in Adur and Worthing and the South Coast, and providing our customers with an exceptional service.
We'll be visiting a development scheme, the Artisan located in Hove on Wednesday 29 May 2019 at 12:00, noon. The scheme has a mix of 42 new one, two and three-bedroom homes with private balconies and roof terrace gardens. For more information visit our website. The visit is to show you a similar style building that we propose to build on The Mannings site. The visit will allow you to have a look and feel for the size of the new homes and the building.
We'll be holding a series of design workshops and events over the spring.
