Brand New playground opened by the Mayor in Bunker’s Hill
The new playground at Bunker’s Hill replaces the old play area for the local children that was in bad condition. 18 months ago, it was neglected and run down but now, thanks to some fantastic work has been refurbished into a beautiful place for the whole community to take pride in.
The playground was decorated with Southern Housing Group balloons and all the children, from Bunkers Hill and Luke’s Close, got the chance to play on the new equipment. Following the initial bout of fun, everyone paused for lunch and were treated to the traditional seaside lunch of delicious fish and chips.
After lunch the Mayor, Councillor Sue Jones, cut the ribbon and officially opened the playground and posed with Group colleagues working on the estate and some children.
Following the official opening, the children from the estate took part in an Easter egg hunt organised by the Community Connector volunteers Bridget & Lisa, both residents organising activities and events for the benefit of the community everyone had to work together to hunt around the estate and find all the eggs that were hidden. The children were successful and were duly rewarded with an Easter egg each to enjoy.
Thank you to our contractors DW, AD and Amber who worked with us to improve the playground site.
