The winter months are here and that brings colder temperatures, so it’s important that you keep your home as well heated as possible. This can mean the bills are higher than usual, and it may be a struggle to pay for the energy you’re using.
Did you know - there are heating benefits that you could be entitled to, to help you with your bills this winter?
The first of these is the Warm Home Discount Scheme. Simply, this is a one-off £140 discount to your electricity bill between September and March. The money goes straight to your supplier and isn’t paid directly into your account. To find out more about the Warm Home Discount Scheme and your eligibility please visit their website.
The Winter Fuel Payment is the second of these benefits and could enable you to get up to £300 to pay for your heating bills if you were born on or before 5 November 1953.
Cold Weather Payment is the last of the Government benefits you may be entitled to if you are receiving other benefits. The Cold Weather Payment is given if the temperature in your area is forecasted to be zero degrees or below for seven consecutive days. You will be given £25 for each seven-day period between 1 November and 31 March.
