The Group's Work Placement Programme helps Dimple go from customer to colleague
After a difficult last 12 months following a series of surgeries, Dimple Jamnadas, one of our customers landed herself a permanent job with the Group last week and becomes the fifteenth person to make the switch from customer to colleague.
Body: Dimple’s life hasn’t been straightforward and in November 2018 she had three open heart surgeries, one in which an aneurism was removed. Being side lined with these surgeries meant that Dimple was not able to apply for work and put that on the back burner. During her time recovering, Dimple spotted the advertisement for Group customers to apply for the resident Work Placement Programme.
After impressing during her time here, she is now part of the Many Sisters project which aims to provides financial and budgeting skills to BAMER (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee) women.
Dimple said: “It’s so great to be an official member of staff at the Group.
“Being given the opportunity to work in an office environment has been absolutely brilliant,” said Dimple. “I’ve received so much kindness among all of my team, and in fact, from lots of colleagues at Fleet House.
"Sharon has been so supportive and incredibly helpful and she always makes time for me as a result I’ve grown in confidence. In fact, completing my work placement has played a huge role in my recovery. It helped me get back into a routine and gave me a sense of purpose. Naturally I’m nervous but very excited to start my new role with the Many Sisters Project.”
Since starting her role, Dimple has led a charity fundraiser for the Group to rasie money for The Royal Brompton Hospital who specialise in heart and lung surgery.
