Looking for a home
Making lives better
I’ve been trusted to shop for three residents in the Brighton & Hove area; Desmond, Dorothy and Evelyn. Although work has been crazily busy in Finance (more than I anticipated!) I ensured I still found time during the evenings to go shopping for our residents.
One of the residents has special dietary requirements which makes shopping a bit more challenging, especially when the supermarket shelves were running empty on food! From pork chops to jasmine rice, I ensured all my requests were largely catered for. You can tell people genuinely appreciate the help which is great – something positive in these tough times! It’s always lovely to see their happy faces as they collect their shopping from their doorsteps.
I also make sure I check-in with my residents a few times a week by phone to check on their welfare and wellbeing. My favourite quote so far was from Dorothy who told me off for buying too much shopping (only 4 bags) which made me laugh, I then explained to her this is what you get when shop at Aldi and not Waitrose, with the food only costing less than £29.
It’s been a real pleasure and privilege to look after our residents during this pandemic…
