We are committed to reducing our impact on the environment and to providing comfortable, energy efficient homes with low running costs for our customers.
Our goal is to continue to reduce the environmental impact of all our activities, helping to tackle some of the biggest challenges we face, including fuel poverty and climate change.
We take a variety of approaches to improving our customers' homes to ensure we are meeting the individual needs of both our customers and the local environment.
The Home Energy Advice Team (HEAT) provides face-to-face home energy advice visits to customers. In 2016-17 we made 603 visits and identified average savings of £256 for each home. We also helped 227 customers claim the Warm Home Discount, worth a total of £31,780, and helped other customers to clear £43,323 of utility debt allowing them to have a fresh start and set up new payment plans
We built our first ever PassivHaus development scheme at Cameron Close, Freshwater on the Isle of Wight. The environmentally friendly approach to design has delivered significant savings to our customers, particularly around heating costs. We are committed to having minimal impact on the local environment and ensure that our partners work to the same standards.
We have invested in renewable energy in our offices and homes, including solar panels and heat pumps. These produce enough energy to fully power more than 200 homes.
Launched in 2017, our Sustainable Workplaces Strategy commits the Group to reducing our carbon footprint by operating environmentally responsible offices and improving our working environment to achieve a more sustainable future. By 2025, we aim to reduce our carbon emissions by 20%, improve our recycling rate to 95%, and reduce our water consumption by 10%.
