Supporting residents

We know that the rising energy prices are of concern to everyone. We aim to support residents in a variety of ways:

  • We work in partnership with utility and home energy efficiency specialists to provide dedicated support to our residents.  These partner agencies offer a mixture of telephone-based support and home visits.  Residents can get in touch with our Community Investment Team who will put them in touch with the most appropriate support. This may involve support with debt, the tariff they are on and support to look at how their homes can be made immediately be made more energy efficient.
  • We also promote and actively contact residents to ensure they are on the most cost-effective tariffs, that they are receiving the Warm Home Discount if they are entitled to it and any other local support.
  • Our Southern Housing Group hardship fund provides short-term financial assistance to anyone struggling to pay their bills – as well as the ability to offer longer term financial inclusion support.

  • We are currently developing ‘trusted partner’ relationships with water companies working in our core communities to automatically transfer eligible residents onto social tariffs and register vulnerable residents onto their priority services list.
