The existing external wall insulation system on the outside of the building must be replaced because the materials used do not comply with the government’s current safety standards.
We’ve taken expert advice and will be replacing the external insulation system with a system that complies with the current standards and that has been approved by the Building Control Team at Woking Borough Council. We are expecting the replacement to be similar in appearance and that the block will look the same on completion of the work as it does now.
We’ve appointed a consultant, CalfordSeaden, to develop detailed proposals for the works and supervise the work.
When is this happening?
There are a few stages of the process to complete before we can start work.
The following are the best estimates we have of the lead in to starting the programme. These timings can be influenced by many external factors so we will keep you updated as we move forward. The Covid-19 pandemic has meant that some work is harder to carry out. We are looking at the timetable at the moment to update some of the timings. Check back here for updates and look out for the regular resident communications.

Outline programme schedule
Please note this is an updated schedule and gives indicative timings only. It gives an estimated schedule based on what we knew at the time of estimating which was early 2020. The dates given are subject to change depending on events and circumstances as they unfold. This is a complex site to carry out work to so there are many factors to consider that may mean that timings change. We will be updating this schedule shortly.

Risks that can affect the timeline:
Extent of planning application needed: we will work with the local planning authority to confirm what they require us to submit in respect of planning.
Covid-19 – could affect work and timetables
Weather: a harsh Winter will affect work timetables
Stakeholder relationships: for example Centrium and Network Rail relationships – getting agreement to access the building from the railway side may take longer than anticipated.
With all risks we will take steps to mitigate the impact on the timetable to ensure that the works proceed on time as far as possible.
We will update this area of the website regularly and we will continue to write to residents with updates.
Please email us at email@example.com you have any questions or if you are concerned about anything at all. We are here to support you. Subject to Covid-19 safety guidelines, if you would like we can visit you to discuss your needs and concerns.
Possible impact on you
At the moment the best information we have is that we won’t need to access your home (unless there are exceptional circumstances) as we are expecting all the work to be done from the outside of the building.
We will try to keep disruption to a minimum but there will be an increased level of activity around the block during the development and carrying out of the works. There will be some loss of light and blocked views, and we will need to restrict access to balconies as these will also be having their parts of the external wall system replaced. Car parking may be reduced too.
We appreciate your continued support and patience as we move forwards with the work.
We would again confirm that the fire strategy for the building remains ‘evacuate in the event of a fire alarm’ and the Fire Marshals will remain on duty whilst the works are underway.
Please continue to follow the fire safety advice previously issued to you.
