Over the past year we've carried out some fire safety investigations at Burney House.
We've now received some more detailed reports back which have told us that, unfortunately, there is further work that we will need to undertake to ensure Burney House is fully compliant with government building safety guidelines.
The inspections have revealed that some of the internal ceiling level fire breaks – which are measures put into buildings to stop a fire spreading – are not up to current building standards and need to be improved.
Southern Housing Group’s fire safety consultants, M10 Fire Consultancy, is currently compiling a report which we expect to receive shortly. This report will detail what remedial work, if any, is required at Burney House. We will discuss the contents of this report with you over the summer, and we hope to be able to share a clear plan for remediation by autumn 2021.
