Being a homeowner means you can expect to receive a certain level of service from us and in return we'll ask that you fulfill certain responsibilities. 

Our aim is to provide an efficient service and to give you value for money. We consistently monitor our performance, review our standards, and – most importantly – ask for your feedback.

Our services for homeowners

If you're a homeowner, our Southern Home Ownership Team can help you with services such as buying further shares in your home through staircasing, selling, or extending your lease.

Our responsibilities

  • Cleaning and maintaining shared areas, including gardens.
  • Carrying out repairs external repairs and maintenance around the building and the scheme.
  • Insuring the building.
  • Managing your rent account.
  • Complying with the terms of our landlord covenants in your lease, deed, or transfer document.

Some of these services may be provided by other agencies if the Group isn't the freeholder and doesn't manage the building and/or the scheme.

Your responsibilities

  • Paying your service charge and rent in full and on time.
  • Complying with the other terms of your lease, deed, or transfer document.

If you own a flat, you're responsible for all the internal maintenance of your home. This includes:

  • Heating system repairs and maintenance, including an annual boiler/gas appliances check.
  • Repairs and decorating.
  • Electrical wiring.
  • Fixtures, fittings, and appliances.

If you own a house, you're responsible for all the internal and external maintenance of your home. This includes:

  • Heating system repairs and maintenance, including an annual boiler/gas appliances check.
  • Repairs and decorating.
  • Electrical wiring.
  • Fixtures, fittings, and appliances.
  • Roof, guttering, and other rainwater goods.
  • Garden, fences/hedges if you have them.
  • Driveway or garage.
  • Fabric of your building.
